Dusty Fingers

I’m starting a new blog?

I’m starting a new blog.

I’M STARTING A NEW BLOG.

This thought has been said in my heart with various tones over the last couple of months. But now it is said with confidence.

Little seeds have been planted to make this vision grow:

After delivering a sermon, Jennifer asked if I blogged and told me I should.

I recently started an Instagram for my cat.  It is not a sufficient outlet for my voice. However, people still need to see pictures of my cat. @The_Reverend_Cat

A year ago I stopped writing papers for school (MDiv in the bag!) and more recently felt like I had energy to write again.

This week Rachel Held Evans tragically passed away at the age of 37.  Her voice was so important to the Church.  I don’t pretend or desire to ever replace or be her.  She inspires me. (Rest in peace sweet prophet, courageous warrior and gentle friend) However, the Church needs more voices like hers.  I write this in her honor. Please hear her voice here: https://rachelheldevans.com/

My brother started a blog. He inspires me.

I have recently felt empowered and encouraged by my own faith heroes and mentors to remember and believe that I am called.  I am capable.  I am valuable.

I have recently had my voice dismissed by a man in church leadership in an unbelievably painful and ugly way.  Again.

My husband, my favorite writer, told me I should.  He doesn’t know yet he gets to be my editor.

And so I will write.

I will write for myself.

I will write for women.

I will write for men.

I will write for women called to ministry.

I will write for men in ministry.

I will write for the Church.

 I will write.

Lord dust off my fingers. Let the words that come out of their tips be yours.  Holy Spirit come soothe the fire in my heart and the roar in my belly to be a blaze of your Truth and the sound of your Justice.

You still need to see pictures of my cat.
